Oh my…I think I’ve died and gone to heaven. Not only does my apartment smell like warm, fresh bread, but everything turned out so close to perfect! I had two pans of shaped croissants. The first pan came out looking a little “special” which is probably expected since I had no clue what I was doing (picture below). They unrolled a bit in the oven. I believe that cookbooks never give you all the information because they don’t want your’s to look like the picture (so rude!). SO before putting pan 2 in the oven, I tucked the tail under (nice and snug) and pinched the ends together…perfection! They came out looking a little closer to normal! (picture above)
And when you eat them…Oh My God…they flake and unroll like the ones you get in a bakery. It’s like eating a stick of warm butter; but inside that butter: rainbows, unicorns, sunshine, and all the keys to happiness in the world.
Please, the croissants and I need to be left alone together for a few hours…
I’ve always loved croissants, and not just because of their obvious fabulousness, but because I’ve always shared them with my mom. One of my earliest memories of going out to get a croissant with my mom is when we use to drive to Alfalfa’s and spend time together. We would share a Strawberry Fields and a croissant. My first Starbucks was at the one by King Soopers and I remember having a hot chocolate and a croissant and feeling like such an adult (I couldn’t have been older than 7?)…
If anyone worked at Alfalfa’s circa 1994 and knows how to make a Strawberry Fields…I’ll send you a croissant!
Hey mom…jealous of the buttery heaven that came out of my oven??
