Well a few weeks back I was at a dinner party at a friend’s house. He invited me over and mentioned that he was going to be cooking the dinner. He also asked me to bring my glass baking dish…
I rode my bike over early with the dish because I knew he would have to use it to cook the dinner. Well, I looked at the recipe, discussed it with him a bit (stuffed peppers) and realized that I would be cooking the dinner. He had asked for a bit of “help” with dinner, but in fact he had every intention of using his dinner party to socialize with his guests. This was no surprise to me and I happily made dinner. It turned out really good and I made two separate dishes: one vegetarian, one with beef (this friend and I were vegetarian at the time, for Lent). As we all sat around and chatted, there was an abundance of odd beer around. Immediately I noticed the berry beer and snagged a couple to take home (I cooked dinner! I deserve to snag a few beers from his house, right?). I remembered a post I made months ago about beer bread and wondering if a berry beer would leave the bread with a berry taste. So, I finally have gotten around to testing my wondering with those beers which were in my fridge since then.
The verdict? I’m actually not exactly sure! That’s not helpful, I know, but the bread tastes different…it has a hint of a taste of a different beer being used, but I’m not sure if I could pin-point it as berry. But, the bread is good! And it is a little sweeter, and using honey on the bread really pronounces the flavor.
Ok, I have a question for you. I eat a lot of animal crackers. I got to the bottom of the bag today, and looked in the bottom, and was shocked by the animal cracker carnage! Usually at the bottom of a bag of chips you can find a bunch of crunched up pieces…well at the bottom of an animal cracker bag is a bunch of animal legs! The parts that break off the animal crackers are legs! Does this bother anybody else?! (It’s pretty funny, but very disturbing!)

It won’t be long until I’ll be there one Saturday morning to wake you up to go to the Farmer’s Market like the good ole days. Maybe we can even take the dogs if they are good. The blueberry man better be there…I’ve been holding out for blueberries all spring, which is since February (not that popular here in Spain, and very expensive)
