Yes, I made homemade pretzels today! I have no idea why, don’t ask.
So I had a few more pictures than this but my camera decided to hate me and delete them. Great, another electronic device that has it out for me.
Anyway, this was so simple and I regret not doing this earlier. I also regret not having a super cheesy sauce to dip these in.
Last night I went ice skating with my peeps (!) and did a bit of child-like celebrating of the end of the semester. After a long and exciting evening, I woke up this morning with a hankering for soft pretzels. Luckily, I had bought stuff at the store for these last week. Anyhoo, here’s how its done:
Pretzels!
I’m A Terrible Skater: Pretzels
1 cup warm milk (appx 110 degF)
1 tsp dry active yeast
1 tbs brown sugar
2.5 cups flour
1 tsp salt
Top: course Kosher salt
~Preheat oven to 425 AND throw a large pot of water on the stove to boil
~Stir the yeast and brown sugar into the milk and wait ten min. Then throw everything into a large bowl and mix into a yummy dough ball. Knead for 5 min. Divide into 6 parts. Roll each part into a thin rope and set aside for 5 min. Roll out again until about the width of your pinky finger (will puff up later!). Shape like pretzels (twist, pinch, etc). Boil them for appx 3 min each (I held them in the boiling water with a giant spoon and some tongs). Place on a baking sheet and sprinkle with Kosher salt. When they’re all boiled and salted, pop into the oven for appx 15 min (browned on top). Eat!
