Frankly I am a bit disappointed because I totally forgot that I am out of eggs. I started to put together all the makings of a baking-fest and then realized I couldn’t get far without eggs. Fail.
Lollipops: Moving on. I wanted to do a quick write-up on something that has captured my mind for the last few weeks. I was watching Cooking Channel not too long ago and a chef went to a weird restaurant for his favorite dessert. The dessert was a trio of lollipops…that were actually made of ice cream. Now, the ice cream is not the important part. The lollipops were beautiful globes that sparked something in my mind: a childhood memory. I remember being in elementary school and buying beautiful giant lollipops that had a marbled glass effect and a variety of flavors (strawberry cheesecake, fuzzy peach, mint chocolate chip…). I haven’t seen those lollipops since then, and now, I want them!
I went on a wild search for them. I tried gas stations, candy shops…well, there’s not many other places to look in such a small town. I finally was tipped off by a dear friend whom I enlisted in the frantic search; she said her mom knew they were manufactured locally and that they are sold primarily for fundraising. Bingo. The Ozark Delight Candy Co. is a small candy company run by seemingly friendly employees who answer your question-filled emails promptly. We ordered a small fundraising pack, no joke. It was just so much less expensive to buy yum-yums in bulk! Plus, because we were splitting them and because we knew they’d last so long, it was totally worth it. Plus, the ability to re-gift the less preferred flavors made it totally worth it!
Coffee: I bought a bag of chocolate raspberry coffee grounds from Common Grounds. They roast their own beans and they smell so good, I couldn’t resist a small bag! After it was ground and handed to me, I made a mad dash to my car. The bag was still warm and it smelled like such a decadent treat…let’s just say I got a bit carried away with smelling the grounds.
[And to the barristas at Kennedy Coffee…it isn’t exactly nice to smell the cup of drink you’re making for me, make a disgusted face, tell the barrista next to you to smell it, confer that you don’t like the smell of sugar-free syrups, proceed in finishing the drink, then hand it to me like you didn’t just bash my calorie-free delight right infront of me. Yeah, thanks.]
