I wanted to do a quick post on the half marathon I ran this morning! It was the most amazing experience ever and I had no idea I could push myself to do it. I finished in 2 hours, 27 minutes, and I feel like I’ll never walk again, but crossing that finish line was one of the happiest moments of my life…but finding a chair to sit in afterwards may be competing for that “happiest moment” spot.
The Half Marathon
(Here I am, before the race started)
(Before the race, with Corey, my training partner)
(It was a beautiful sunny morning, slightly cool; 8:00am)
(Here’s the crowd getting ready to start)
(The blue mats on the floor tracked the microchips we had on our shoes which kept our times)
(Here we go! Can you see Corey? I’m next to him and you can only see a smidge of my pink jacket)
(My fabulous boyfriend waited patiently at the finish line. The timer says “0.” It was at 02:27:00 when I finished!)
(Tons of people came out to support the runners and wait at the finish line)
(It’s hard to make out, but there’s a little person in a white shirt in the street, pink jacket around her waist, yup that’s me!)
(Here I am! Collapsed in a chair at the finish line, waiting for Corey to cross it too! I even got a metal for finishing within the top 800 people out of a few thousand! It’s amazing, the things I’ll do for a free tee shirt!)
Thank you to everybody who was so supportive to me during my training time. And thank you to my boyfriend for giving me high-fives after every run and for standing there at the finish, as I was hobbling and crying (the entire last mile was uphill, zig-zagging). I was so lucky to have run in the best weather ever and was even more lucky to enjoy it for the rest of the afternoon, feet propped up and Subway in hand.
