Yesterday was the best day of the year: my birthday! Can you believe it’s been a whole year since my ice cream maker joined the family? Well, yet another appliance has joined the gang, and this one is the mother-load! A KITCHENAID MIXER!!! Finally! Can you believe I’ve come this far without one?!
This year for my birthday, I didn’t ask for anything. I’ve gotten to that point where all I want is to be taken out for dinner (i.e. not cook my own meal for one night). I placed my request and it was granted by my lovely boyfriend. You then could only guess how shocked I was to receive a beautiful necklace from him! I feel so lucky. AND before going to dinner, after I got off work (they never tell you when you’re a little kid that one day you’ll grow up and be a boring adult and will have to work on your birthday), he told me my parents sent me a little surprise and he’s been hiding it from me. I covered my eyes, held my breath, and then my mouth dropped open in pure shock when he told me to open my eyes and see my gift! A beautiful, bright pink mixer…what I’ve been only dreaming about for years. I’m such a lucky girl.
Now, he and I are packing up to go visit said parents, but I had to use the mixer! I couldn’t go out of town for a week and not use my mixer! So, as a christening, I decided to use the cookie recipe that was sent to me on my birthday by Martha Stewart’s website. They send me the cookie-of-the-day email and I thought it could only be a sign that the cookie for my birthday was a banana walnut chocolate chip cookie. It’s a combo of banana bread and chocolate chip cookies, which just happen to be two of my favorite things. I couldn’t ignore the signs, so this was the recipe I chose to use. I followed it exactly except I used chocolate chips instead of chopping up my own chocolate, so I’m linking the webpage here.
They turned out huge and fluffy and just so yummy. And a smile never left my face while mixing with my new mixer.
