I am kicking off my first of a series of local reviews with Kennedy Coffee Roasting Co. I am going to do reviews of our local NWA gems that offer healthier choices, and tell you how to scour the menu for the lowest calorie alternatives. A lot of people have so much trouble maintaining healthy lifestyles because eating out creates a stumbling-block of confusion, so I’m going to try to help sort it out for you!
Kennedy Coffee is located in Bentonville and is a true treasure. They roast their coffee in-house, which happens to be common in Northwest Arkansas (Arsagas, Baba Boudan’s, and Common Grounds are just a few other local coffee houses that house-roast). I truly think, however, that the coffee at Kennedy is the best. No other coffee house has me driving 30 min just to get a taste!
When reading the menu, it is so easy to get caught up in the variety of blended drinks that look so delicious, but are jam-packed with calories. Don’t think that you have to give up a flavored drink, though, just because you want a healthier option! I would like to commend Kennedy for offering the most sugar-free syrup flavor options out of all other coffee houses in our area!
Kennedy coffee features Monin syrups which I find to be better than Torani syrups (even though I buy Torani syrups because they are less expensive and carry the Pumpkin Spice flavor). You can order any of the following flavors from Kennedy: Almond, Amaretto, Caramel, Hazelnut, Irish Cream, Peach, Raspberry, Strawberry, Vanilla, White Chocolate, or Chocolate Sauce. That’s a ton of options, not only for coffee but for smoothies too! AND they offer alternative milk choices, such as skim, vanilla soy, or unsweetened Silk almond! Yes, they offer the lowest calorie almond milk on the market! Now, you just have to mix and match to get the lowest calorie drink!
Practice What You Preach: So, what did I order? I ordered an almond milk latte, 16 oz, with a small pump of sugar free white chocolate and a small pump of sugar free raspberry! My latte is only about 70 calories! Can you believe that?! That’s over 70 calories less than a same size “skinny latte” from another coffee shop. It would have been less if I got an extra shot to displace more milk.
Be creative and order whatever sugar free flavors strike your fancy (they are calorie free, so you can have more than one, and you can even tell the barista how much of the flavor you prefer)! Now, the only con I have to Kennedy is the price, because my latte cost me $5.10, which is way more than I am willing to spend on a regular basis, but as a treat, it was totally worth it!
BIG NEWS! I’m having a giveaway soon! So keep checking back because I’ll post it soon and you could win some free stuff!

Hi Melissa,
I LOVE the Frozen Ryan! I order it this way: 20 oz. Sugar free Frozen Ryan with Almond milk and whipped cream.
I am a little concerned about the amount of calories and carbs in it.
Do you have any way of finding out that info for me?
I’d really appreciate it!!
Thanks,
Denise
