The countdown is well into effect now for the half-marathon: T minus 6 days! Ah, I get butterflies every time I think about it. I’m so scared and excited; you’d think I’ve never done it before. But I have! Remember last year’s half-marathon? I can’t wait to have another wonderful, challenging experience and spend some time with my friend Jessi, whom I miss so much (moving is tough!).
I’m excited to introduce NuGo nutrition, dark chocolate vegan nutrition bars to you. “NuGo makes many all-natural bars, including vegan, gluten-free, and low sugar options” (@NuGoNutrition). I most recently tried a few of the dark chocolate bars, and one in particular stood out to me. I loved the Chocolate Pretzel bar, because I am a salty/sweet addict. It is made with real dark chocolate (not that fake strange “chocolate” substitute that leaves a weird after-taste), and sprinkled with flaked salt, which when combined with the toasted brown rice puffs inside, tastes like chocolate-covered pretzels. With around 200 calories and 10 grams of protein, this bar is a wonderfully balanced treat!
With not enough of a peanut butter taste to discern it from the Chocolate Chip bar, the Peanut Butter Cup bar was honestly disappointing to me. Be this as it may, the Chocolate Chip bar is like a chocolate-studded Krispie Treat, which is great for a nutrition bar that is packed with protein.
I’m excited to hopefully get to try the “Slim” variety soon too, because anything that is low calorie, tasty, and full of protein and nutrients is great by me!
Strike up a conversation: What’s the longest race you’ve ever run? What was that experience like for you?
