I wanted to share just a few unique treats that crossed my path during my most recent trip to Chicago; heavy on the Greek.
Deerfield’s Bakery: This is where my family loves to get butter cookies for events. What surprised me was that they have started baking gluten-free cookies!
Artopolis: After a big Greek dinner downtown, we headed over to Artopolis to pick out some Greek desserts (and so my daddy could get his favorite baklava).
Greek honey and olive oil: I bought a jar of Greek honey for my special little treats at home. Their Greek olive oil tastes like straight Kalmata olives, which are my favorite olives.
I ordered this beautiful warm lemon custard dessert. It was so good!
I thought this was an impressive show of ice cream! It’s traditional in Greece to serve chocolate with sour cherry sauce, which was filling the middle of this glass!
Carol’s Cookies are a local favorite, and you can buy them in Whole Foods. They’ve started making gluten-free cookies too!
Strike up a conversation: Do you look for unusual foodie items in new cities or do you hit all the touristy spots?

I actually spend all of my vacations seeking out vegan food and checking our their Whole Foods. I LOVE going to Whole Foods in other cities.

Me too!! I got that cookie from the whole foods there! That’s usually one of my first stops in a city bc they’re all so different and I could spend hours there!
