First of all, thank you for all of the happy greetings I’ve been getting lately concerning my recent engagement! It’s so sweet and makes me absolutely giddy. I still am in a happy daze and can hardly believe it.
On Saturday, I decided to do something fun and I took a fondant class through a local cake decorating studio. I worked with fondant once before when I was very young (yup, I’m talking probably age 13), so I needed it to be demystified for me and I needed that confidence to work with that sugary edible clay.
The class was so much fun and it took us through all of the basics of coloring fondant, turning it into gum paste for more permanent decorations, making a bow for the cake, and draping a cake with an even layer of fondant.
It all started with plain white fondant!
We were provided with a basked full of tools and goodies.
The instructor, Jenny, showed us how to do everything, step by step. She was wonderful!
I decided to have a purple bow on my cake!
I made all of the loops to the bow and let them dry as I made the fondant cake covering.
We learned the technique to marble color throughout the cake. I chose pink and yellow.
Then, we put it all together! Tah-dah!
I had such a great time at this class! It was great to relax and focus on a fun task. I have a feeling I’ll need more fun distractions like this over the next year or so!
Class taken at Sweet Wise, Germantown, TN.
