Another exhausting week is over! I’m so relieved to have found a reception site for the wedding, because now I can take a few months off from planning and just enjoy the upcoming holidays.
We had an exhausting start to the week, because we spend most of Sunday evening in the animal hospital. Our lab really hurt herself (doing mystery activities while we were at the grocery store; my guess is the activities included jumping off and on the bed) and she’ll be ok, but we had to spend 4 hours in the hospital to be assured of that.
My new strength training is going great so far! It’s keeping my body constantly guessing, which means my muscles are always sore, in a good way. And even after the exhausting days, I find a way to knock out at least a short weight workout, and always make the little things count.
The Sweaty Breakdown:
Friday: So today was the start of another car trip! I spend the long day in the car. I made healthy food choices all day to make up for a day of inactivity. Before bed, I completed some rounds of squats, lunges, and planks.
Saturday: I woke up and started with squats, lunges, sit ups, push ups and a plank. After a long day of wedding business and fun shopping with my mom, my mom and I took a power walk around our old neighborhood (about 2 miles, several hills). After, I did more squats, lunges, sit-ups, and planks.
Sunday: Every trip must end with another long day in the car, headed home. After I got home and unpacked, I completed a nice sweaty workout in the gym – 5 min elliptical warm up; weights: biceps, triceps, and shoulders; 5 min elliptical; cool down
Monday: weights – back and abs
Tuesday: our longest walk yet around the city! Love this time we’re spending together.
Wednesday: quick intervals [100 lunges; 20 squat jumps; 20 burpees; 20 jumping jacks; 20 mountain climbers] then my evening weights was legs, so I started and ended with a high-resistance bike “sprint” on the stationary bike.
Thursday: 2 mile power walk around the city; I was supposed to complete weight training today too, but I’ve been so exhausted and have so many things to do, that giving my body rest is a bit more important right now.
Fabulous Fitness Finds:
Textured Vegetable Protein (TVP):
This is an amazing and strange health food find! I was referred to it by the lovely Laura, whom I am inspired by every single day. This stuff is made from dehydrated soy, so it’s packed with protein, has almost no sodium, and it cooks up like oatmeal! You can use it as a filler in anything, but you can also use it to either cut your oatmeal and add bulk and protein to it, or you can use it instead of your oatmeal altogether! It is tasteless, so you can use any of my fab oatmeal recipes to spice it up, or get creative and find your favorite way to enjoy it! In ¼ cup (dry) there are 12 grams of protein! Can you believe that?! It makes your oatmeal that much more nutritious. Yum.

Thank you so much for the shout out. I’m glad you like the TVP! It’s so versatile.
