Sorry about the lack of posts lately, but…
I’ve been on vacation!!
I was so excited to escape the cold weather and venture out to Palm Springs and then Vegas!! Wooo-hooo!
Here’s a taste of my travels.
I brought my own breakfast to the airport! You’d be amazed at what you CAN get through security. Pack a healthy breakfast or lunch and lots of snacks (almonds, cut veggies, peeled oranges) and you can TRY to stay on track while traveling. I made overnight oats the night before we went (prepared old fashioned oats, plain Greek yogurt, almond milk, cinnamon, blackberries, and chia seeds) and it was ready and waiting by the time I finished battling TSA.
I love that airport snacks that are passed during drink service are in small packages with clearly marked nutritional information on the back! I don’t feel guilty at all about enjoying a pack of peanuts and a Biscoff cookie (they come in packs of two so I saved the other for another day).
Maybe the windows need washing…but the clouds and sky were beautiful!
When we got off the plane (we landed in Los Vegas) and finished restraining ourselves from strangling the rental car agents, we had to quickly grab dinner and jump in the car to head to Palm Springs! I had a Chipotle chicken burrito bowl with lots of salsa and veggies (I skip the rice, sour cream, and cheese fare).
Look! I guess we really are in Palm Springs!!
You have NO idea how excited I was to see TWO kind of grapefruit trees, an orange tree, and two lemon trees in the backyard of my mister’s grandma’s house! I was in heaven and knew I’d have to be dragged away kicking and screaming. Grapefruits are my favorite! I even snagged a few to take home with me…I couldn’t resist.
I was excited to see an assortment of chocolates on the counter! I hadn’t tried these Theo chocolate bars before and I really liked them! A little nibble of each won’t hurt…but the box of See’s…that’s a different story. You can’t stop me from sucking those down.
I don’t golf but this was just beautiful!
I even was able to get a pedicure! So pretty, right?
I’ll leave you on this note…for now!
I have a second set to show you!! But Part Two will wait for tomorrow! Just gush over these for awhile!
Thank you for letting me take a vacation and truly enjoy it! I’ll get back to recipes super soon…in fact, I smell brownies…
(I’m such a tease!)
PS! Happy New Year everyone!! I can’t wait to see what wonderful things 2013 brings for Treats With a Twist and for my family (my wedding!)! Cheers!
