Hey everybody!
So you probably thought I disappeared into the fitness ether, right? Nah, just took some FFF time off…though I didn’t take the time off in the gym!
Let’s start this week’s Fabulously Fit Friday with the New Year! A fresh start (plus, I didn’t work out the days before because I was on the plane and traveling).
I’m super excited about the weeks to come because I’ve made a big fitness change…I got a personal trainer! I’ve been wanting to do this for years! And I kept telling myself that I would do it before my wedding because I want to be in the best shape of my life and feel 100% confident in my dress…well, there’s no time to wait! And when I saw a deal on Groupon, it was a sign. I’m going to meet her tomorrow and I’m bringing a list of my questions, concerns, hopes, and current habits (she didn’t ask me to do any homework, but I just can’t help myself).
I also had made the choice to start waking up even earlier and working out in the morning. I always waited until the evening to workout, dragging myself from the alluring glow of the TV, torturing myself to gear up one more time before bed. So, I’ve been waking up the last few mornings, getting it over with, and relaxing in the evenings! I love it!
The Sweaty Breakdown
Tuesday (Jan 1): I did one of my friend, Lindsay’s, workouts today! And oh, boy, did it wipe me out!
Wednesday: I grabbed an old edition of SELF magazine and started their workout chart over again (I’ve done this particular 5-week program, the Drop10 program, 2 times through already!). It’s full of short but effective HIIT workouts! Day 1: “The Sweet Sixteen”
Thursday: Day 2 of the SELF magazine Drop10 workouts, “Size Shrinker”
Fabulous Fitness Finds:
FRS: So I recently received a big box of FRS products to try! I’m so excited about them. They offer several energy-packed drinks that are all natural because they are fueled by Quercetin! Quercetin is extracted from fruits like blueberries, red apples, and grapes, and in FRS, there is the equivalent of the energy from 40 apples!
They have several lines of products, too, including Healthy Slim, Healthy Protein, Healthy Energy and Healthy Defense.
I liked drinking the Healthy Energy drink packets (orange flavor)! I mixed a packet (10 calories) into probably 16 ounces of water (they recommend 8 ounces of water but I like weaker tasting drinks) and sipped it all morning to keep me energized. FRS also has bottled Energy drinks (Wild Berry or Cherry Lime), chews, and hard chews (which is like yummy candy that is low in calories and full of natural energy!).
At lunch, when I found myself with a lack of food within reach, the Healthy Protein (Blueberry Acai or Orange Cream)was a great fix! You can use them after a workout or just to supplement your diet with more protein, because they are packed with 25 grams of protein. I love that they don’t contain any artificial sweeteners, colors, flavors, or gluten. The Blueberry Acai was really bright tasting, like pure fruit juice.
I even took some liberties and mixed half of the Healthy Protein with half a banana and some ice and water in a blender and made a thick smoothie! Warning, it gets a bit foamy when you blend it 🙂 but it tastes amazing! And it’s so naturally sweet that you don’t have to add anything to it!
The Healthy Slim drinks (Strawberry Melon or Tropical) are only 20 calories and are great to either sip throughout the day, or to drink 30 minutes before a meal to help you eat less. I thought it was refreshing and nice to sip and I loved the Strawberry Melon flavor. I love the burst of energy they give me while also being hydrating and slightly filling. With the new year and all of those resolutions flying around, this is a great product to get you going!
I was sent all of these FRS products to sample and review as I pleased by the company. The opinions stated are 100% my own.

Alex @ therunwithin says
gah a personal trainer has been one of those things I wish I could afford and am determined one day to be able to afford. I would love that accountability and someone pushing me like that
Allison @ Life's a Bowl says
I hope you had a fab experience with the personal trainer this morning! And those two workouts from SELF look awesome! I’m terrible at doing interval workouts…
Melissa says
The lazy side of me loved the intervals because it meant I could be done working out sooner 😉 ha

I’ve always wanted a personal trainer! Have fun! As for morning workouts, I made the switch myself over the summer. For years, I went to the gym after work for classes or treadmill time. But I wasn’t getting home until 7-ish and dinner wasn’t happening until 8-ish, and I was always famished. By the time dinner was over, it was nearly time for bed. But I quit the gym to save money and started boosting my running training outdoors. And that meant 100-degree temps over the summer. The only way I could bear it was to run in the mornings before the sun came up. Waking up early sucks, but having free evenings is so worth it!

Holy Cow girl! Are you still getting out there in this cold?? If I didn’t have a fitness facility in my apartment, I’d be out there with you…
Bianca-Vegan Crunk says
Yep. I have been! It’s cold at first, but you warm up after 15 minutes or so. 🙂 My parents did just give me their old treadmill this weekend though so when the cold is unbearable, I’ll use that instead.

Great workouts!!! I can’t wait to hear all about your personal training experience!! 🙂
