I’m going to insert pictures of my food again. Because I like doing that. So read, and eat with your eyes.
I hate when I paint my nails a bright color, and then every paper I write on is left with a streak of that color across the page. Right now, red streaks are marring my notebook. The OCD in me is screaming.
It’s very distracting. The red…and the screaming.
Moving on!
So my workout schedule has been really messed up for a couple of weeks. I only got to train with my trainer for one day last week and this week due to my traveling and the gym relocating.
This week, I’m going to have to find some more creative workouts too, since I took a few days off last weekend and I’m starting to get bored with my routine.
I borrowed a Barre class DVD to try today (Friday) since I can’t train with my trainer like I would normally do for my Friday workout. I’m excited to try something new!
Plus, I participated in a chat on Twitter the other night, focused on working out and balancing female hormones (a tricky topic!). Basically it was led by and centered around Joe Dowdell’s book, Ultimate You. I’ve yet to read the book, but I really want to! And he said (during the chat) that in order to work out effectively without creating hormonal imbalance, women should avoid distance cardio (anything over 45 minutes of intense, steady cardio); instead focus on 2 weight training sessions (heavy weights, ladies) and 1-3 interval sessions (only 1 distance cardio day a week if you feel it necessary), remembering to give your body plenty of rest days too.
This has me thinking I want to switch up my weekend cardio (which has been 1 hour of cardio each day) back to HIIT sessions (which I had been primarily focused on last summer, and currently only do on Monday mornings), more stretching and yoga, and more body weight exercises. I think this will really help maintain the progress I’ve made and help rebalance my hormones. Also I will keep remembering to stir my L-Glutamine powder into my post-workout shake (and morning drink on my rest days) to counteract the cortisol spikes that used to give me a bloated workout belly.
Sound good?
Well, let’s get to This Week’s Treats!
Cinnamon Zucchini Oat Waffles:
The Sweaty Breakdown:
Monday: I woke up early to sweat before work, getting in a 20 minute elliptical “run” and a 10 minute bike ride, after taking my fiancé to the airport (business trips and early flights mean I’m up extra early too!)
Tuesday: Rest day!
Wednesday: I did a total body circuit with my trainer. I got to use (pink) boxing gloves for the first time and loved it! Plus, I overheard my trainer talking to another trainer, and they were talking about how strong I am! Eeek, pat on the back for me.
Thursday: Although it was a rest day, I spent a lot of exhausting time with the kiddos (my nanny kids that is) outside, never sitting down all day.
Fabulous Fitness Finds:
Quest Bar – Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough bars*
I think you probably know by now that my repeated reviewing of Quest bar flavors as they come out is very revealing of my preference for them. They’re amazing and I had no idea that they could impress me even more, again! But…their newest flavor has me absolutely giddy!
Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough! As a cookie dough lover, I was blown away! The bar has actual chocolate chunks in it! And it’s the first bar that I prefer not warmed up (gasp!) because cookie dough is supposed to be cool and raw! Oh my…it leaves me speechless.
The best part is each bar is 190 calories and has 21 grams of protein! I’m totally hoarding all of them. I can’t get enough! And with a schmear of nut butter…yup, died.
You have to (HAVE TO) try this flavor!!
Let me make it super easy for you. Look on my right sidebar (scroll up!). See that beautiful Quest picture? Click it. Order. Done. Thanks!
*I received the Quest cookie dough bars to try, free of charge, in exchange for a 100% honest review. All of my gasping and dying over the bars is 100% real and my opinion completely. I am now a part of the Quest affiliate program, and when you click on their ad on my sidebar and decide to order, I get love from Quest, but it doesn’t affect you in any way. You just get delicious Quest bars.
Strike up a conversation: Did you have any Fabulous Fitness Finds this week? Did you have a favorite workout this week? I’m excited to try that Barre DVD, and I’ll let you know how it goes!

Cookie dough iced tea?! I have never heard of it.. Sounds yummy!
Once again, I am jealous of your Quest bars.. It’s my own fault though–I am lacking on ordering them!
Happy Friday, hun!
Jan @ Sprouts n Squats says
Yes! The OCD in me screams out when this happens with my nail polish too. It always seems to happen in particular with the colour red. It’s the worst when it happens at work on documents you have to give others.
Anyway moving on…we can’t get quest bars here in Australia that i know of but I so want to try them I’ve seen multiple reviews on them on blogs in the last 2 weeks.

Omg! I’m so sorry you can’t get them there! They won’t ship to you? 🙁 Click on the ad on the right sidebar and see if you can order them!! Totally worth it!!

What Barre DVD did you try and did you like it?
Melissa @ Treats With a Twist says
Hi Stephanie. I tried the Mile High Barre DVDs. I liked them because they’re short (30min) but really tough! It’s all micro movements and really targets small muscles you don’t normally use (some say that’s why Barre ends up breaking you down over time if you do it too often). Give it a try! Here’s a link so you can see which one I used – http://www.amazon.com/Pure-Barre-Mile-High-NEW/dp/B00853L3SM/ref=pd_sxp_f_pt
