Remember that perfect shade of nail polish I found. That beautiful, perfect shade? Well…I think I jinxed myself. Because I’m allergic to my nail polish.
Yup, allergic. To my nail polish.
If you saw this post I put up on Instagram then you’d know that I am a nail polish junkie. I go raid the new seasonal colors every time they roll out. So to hear my dermatologist tell me, after three sleepless nights and four miserable days of chemical allergen testing, that its a random shmandom ingredient in my nail polish, shampoo, and headbands/hair ties, I was extremely sad.
Really friggin sad.
So I purged the nail polish. And the headbands. And the hair ties. And the shampoo. And the seasonal body washes that smell like frosting. Sweet sweet frosting.
And now…
I have two shades of nail polish. I went right out, taking advantage of the Sephora VIB sale, and bought two shades of 5Free nail polish by Deborah Lippmann (meaning free of the 5 chemical allergens that give people the most trouble; meaning the expensive nail polish that you never thought you’d buy). Of course, I went with my primal instincts and bought a hot pink shade and a glitter bomb, so now I already have to go buy a more wintery shade because it’s not hot pink season. But at least my toes still look like summer!
Can I say a quick word about being “true to you”? The day after my diagnosed allergy, I was approached by an up-and-coming company to represent their workout headbands. I actually love their product because I own some of them…but I had to turn them down. I asked for the ingredient list in their fabrics and glues, and after seeing the culprit ingredient there, I had to walk away from the offer. I know that huge things lie ahead for me, but this is just a small example of how important it is to stay true to who you are.
Also! I received a GREAT compliment this week. After posting my Orange Scented Cornbread, I got a text message from an old friend who said, “Now all I want is cornbread while I watch that movie!” Mission accomplished.

Omg, I don’t even want to KNOW how much those two bottles set you back! And now, I’m sitting here looking at the pitiful stubs at the ends of my fingers wondering WHY the heck they won’t grow! I had beautiful nails all summer and then BAM…stunted! I may just have to suck it up and paint them anyway…and I might just go PINK because I can! Ohhhh, I’mma rebel without a cause! Watch out mama, I’m hot! Lol
I’m cold. And bored. Come over and make me cornbread! 🙂

Um, make me all these treats please? 🙂 And there are so many nasties in products these days, I’m not surprised many people have reactions to them, its nice to see a brand without the major allergens.
