This cooler weather can start to make our skin look dull and feel dry, so I’m updating you on which products I’ve been using. It’s my Fall Skin Care Favorites [I almost spelled it “favourites” but couldn’t go through with it]!
I’m trying to stick with all-natural or in that family when it comes to face care. I think I balance it all out with my makeup (I make sure it’s all free from butylphenol formaldehyde resin and parabens but other than that I’m not super stringent).
First of all, I used to only use my body soap (I know, terrible) for face wash and then use coconut oil as a moisturizer. Yes, coconut oil is a 100% natural, perfectly fine choice. But it wasn’t working for me. Sadly, I knew I needed something more. Plus, using products on your face that make you feel pampered and special can make all the difference in how you start and finish your day (sounds extreme, but if you feel like you’re giving yourself a spa treatment every night versus just doing something blah then jumping into bed, you’ll probably go to bed happier, right?).
So, I picked up the face wash, night moisturizer and eye treatment gel from Andalou Naturals. I have not been disappointed in the least! I found mine at Whole Foods but you can buy them easily through Amazon too. All good.
The Brightening Creamy Cleanser is thick, milky and has a very refreshing scent to it. I like to gently rub 1 pump into my skin then add water and work it into a lather then rinse it all off. Some days I go one step further and then add a pump to my Clarisonic and buff after I cleanse.
The Night Repair Cream is perfect. Its not so thick that you feel like you’ll never get to go to bed because it won’t soak in, but it’s not lotion thin. It has almost a cooling effect to it, making it a refreshing and enjoyable cream to massage into your clean face. I have extremely dry skin, but I feel like after only a few weeks of using this cream, my skin doesn’t have those dry patches I had and normally get as the weather gets colder. I’m very impressed.
This Brightening Eye Serum is the bomb. I’ve tried TONS of eye products because I happen to have the darkest under-eye circles ever. My mom started buying me eye creams when I was 13 or 14 and it’s hard for me to stick to one because I can’t tell a difference. I have very sensitive skin around my eyes too, so if a product starts to burn for even a hint of a second, it goes straight into the trash. This one, however, is a gel and it doesn’t burn AT ALL. I was scared, because it says “brightening” and that word means “burning citrus” to me, but in this case it totally doesn’t. I feel like my eyes look brighter and more alert, but maybe that’s just me? Ask me in 20 years if my youth is preserved. Until then, I’ll keep using this for awhile until I find the next thing that makes me giddy.
yes, it is 1/2 gone…or 1/2 full?
The Shea Moisture line is one of my favorites, and you can even find it at Target! I’ve always heard amazing things about African Black Soap, especially if you have sensitive or breakout-prone skin, because it’s not loaded with acids (like most acne-targeting products), it actually has calming ingredients, like oats and Vitamin E, in it. And this line is free from all of those junky preservative and chemical products that make my skin freak out. So I lather up and step out of the shower feeling refreshed. And I don’t feel a need to jump straight into a cloud of body butter because it doesn’t suck my skin dry. Get it, you’ll love it.
TRADER JOE’S PUMPKIN BODY BUTTER!!! Can I scream it any louder?! Last year I only got one tub before it was sold out (as in, I sent my mom on a wild goose chase around St. Louis looking for it and she was able to swipe 1 tub)! I loved it so much (the scent, the thickness, the luxuriousness) I was so sad when it was gone. Well, leave it to mom to send me a box full of Fall Trader Joe’s pumpkin spice products and TWO tubs of the body butter! Gahhhh! So good. And this first tub is already almost gone. It’s my favorite. And it absorbs into the skin, leaving you silky smooth, not greasy and sweating out body butter for days. Love it. If you can find it, buy it ALL.
And that’s about it! I chose some more affordable but still luxurious options this time, so I hope you run out and try them!
Note: links are to Amazon, where I get paid for advertising, but I genuinely picked out all of these products and bought them with my own money to try. No tricks here.
