After all the excitement of announcing my pregnancy, I’m ready to do a gender reveal for baby 2! We’re having a…
I’m definitely not one of those people who can wait until she gives birth to find out the gender of her dumpling. I know Jess is on round 2 of letting life surprise her, but that just isn’t me!
I guess I’m just so Type A that I need to be in control of something. So much of life is a mystery, but if I can have a name all picked out and ready for the birth certificate, if I can have the perfect outfits picked out for the hospital, and if I can assure there are no photos of my face completely shocked that they’re handing me a baby of a gender I wasn’t expecting, then at least I’m in control of one little thing. Right?
For our first pregnancy, my beautiful, wonderful friend Lindsay set up a gender reveal party. It was magical and a wonderful moment I treasure.
For this pregnancy, hubby, baby and I went to the ultrasound to get the results as a family. That moment was so special and just between us. I then ran home, filled cupcakes (which I had made the day before) with colored frosting and let Canaan go to town. His face was priceless and I love that he’s the one who gets to tell everyone whether he’s having a brother or sister!
Ready?
We’re having a…
Yes! A BOY!
I couldn’t be happier to be giving Canaan a little brother. They’ll be best buds, I’m sure. And I feel such a sense of peace, knowing I’m already prepared as much as I can be.
Was your guess correct?! I’d love to know what you’d love to see more of, baby-wise and pregnancy-wise, here on the blog! Tell me in the comments.
Note: for the cupcakes, I used Simple Mills banana cake mix. It was really good and I’ll definitely be using it again for a quick gluten-free cake fix!

Congratulations!!! I’m so excited for you! I have three same-sex children (daughters) and it’s great for them to have that built in friend.
