My current vitamins and supplements routine is something I’ve been sticking to for a while now. I tend to go through phases where I stick to a routine like glue for months, then one magical morning I realize I’m out of everything at the same time…and I stop taking everything, reevaluate what I miss and start over. This particular combo has been going strong for 6 months (some of it, years), so it’s probably about time I shared it!
ACV + OJ: each morning before I eat anything I take a shot of apple cider vinegar mixed with orange juice, chased by water. This habit started YEARS ago when I started following the Tone It Up meal plans because they love ACV drinks.
I mix 1Tbs of raw ACV with 1 Tbs of orange juice in little salad dressing containers (I prep a few at a time and keep them in the fridge). It supposedly lights up your metabolism for the day and also promotes good gut health.
New Chapter postnatal vitamins: these are the only multivitamins I’ve tried that don’t make me sick to my stomach. I can’t tell you how many multis I’ve gotten sick from, but these are a miracle. They’re fermented so they work with your stomach’s digestion and already hit you with a dose of prebiotics.
Vital Proteins Collagen (blue tub): I’ve been taking collagen for almost 2 years now and love it. I’ve been in and out of pregnancy hormones in that time, so I don’t know if it actually helps your hair and nails, but the big benefits for me are digestion health and joint health. I workout hard almost everyday and I’m not in nearly as much pain as I was in my early twenties. The digestion benefits are legit too.
I mix 1 scoop with my coffee (coffee + almond milk + coconut oil) in a blender and blend it for a few seconds which makes it creamy and frothy!
I also add it to smoothies or my protein shake shaker.
Because of the digestion benefits, I always take the travel sticks with me on trips too. And their matcha travel sticks are incredible too, so those come in handy when I need an afternoon pick-me-up but a coffee shop just isn’t in the cards for me.
Tone It Up Protein: I swear by this protein powder. Besides the Vega sport clean protein, this is the only protein I’ve used in the last five years. No joke. I love this stuff because it is CLEAN, simple, plant-based, dairy-free, safe for my kid (when he shares smoothies with me) and makes amazing protein pancakes too. I buy it over and over. You can find it at Target now too.
Local honey: I’m an allergy sufferer. I always buy honey local to the area I’m in just for the chance that it’ll offer relief. I know that doesn’t sound too resound and confident, but it’s something small and easy.
I put honey in my matcha drinks, on oatmeal or yogurt bowls, in smoothies, etc.
And that’s it! I try to keep it really simple and evaluate what’s working for me and what isn’t and eliminate the things I don’t need. I’d love to hear about your routine!
