I’ve been making Cold Brew at home for so many years it’s just second nature to me. I can eye-ball it all and I end up with a large batch for the week by the time I’m done. BUT because you may still be buying yours in a jug or maybe you’re in that Starbucks drive through too often, let me teach you how to make it too!
First of all, I bet you’re going to be blown away by how easy this is. I know a lot of coffee shops use scales and exact measurements for their brew, which is amazing and my hat’s off to them. But I’m going to show you the easiest way that I make Cold Brew at home.
Wait, what are we using Cold Brew for? You can use it as an iced coffee plain because it’s significantly less bitter than brewed and cooled coffee or you can use it for iced coffee drinks. I like to use mine with my Iced Mint Latte recipe, Iced PB Latte or my Iced Rose Mocha recipe. BUT I also love just adding a splash of oat milk and a hint of flavor with some PH Alchemy syrups, straight from my hometown.
Most Cold Brew is considered “concentrated” because it is so strong. If you are using a light or medium roast bean for this recipe, you probably won’t need to water yours down. But if you use a dark or espresso roast (like I tend to do) then I recommend using it as a concentrate. That’s GREAT NEWS! Because then you get double. You just add your Cold Brew, an equal amount of cold filtered water, then your extras.
HOW can I get away without weighing out my grounds and my water? Because I use the same Bodum French press every single time. So it’s the same every time. I use a 34 ounce French press, which is pretty standard.

Cold Brew at home
By Melissa @ Treats With A Twist
INGREDIENTS
½ cup (heaping) freshly ground dark roast coffee beans
filtered water
METHOD
Place your coffee grounds into your French press. Then fill to just under the pour spout with filtered cold water. Stir with a wooden spoon then cover (or slightly put the lid on without pressing down the tamper) and set aside.
Let the Cold Brew sit for 12-24 hours (I tend to do a full 24 hours and most coffee shops do 16-18 hours) on the counter.
When time is up, press down the tamper and pour the Cold Brew into a tall pitcher to keep in the fridge. Use it up! Enjoy!
